A safe place when home is not…
We provide shelter and support services for women in Belize who are victims
of domestic violence in collaboration with other related agencies.
What Is Domestic Violence
Domestic violence is the willful intimidation, physical assault, battery, sexual assault, and/or other abusive behavior as part of a systematic pattern of power and control perpetrated by one intimate partner against another.
It includes physical violence, sexual violence, psychological violence, and emotional abuse. The frequency and severity of domestic violence can vary dramatically; however, the one constant component of domestic violence is one partner’s consistent efforts to maintain power and control over the other.
About Us
Haven House has served as a non-profit domestic violence shelter and a provider of support and intervention services for women in crisis and their children since 1993. Haven House aims to provide an opportunity for women to rebuild a positive self-image necessary for them to regain control of their lives.
Now under the capable hands of a new Board of Directors, Haven House Belize has a fresh perspective and unwavering commitment to the organization's mission. The board has successfully expanded its reach, improved living conditions, and fostered a nurturing environment for survivors of domestic violence. Our dedication to empowering individuals and promoting healing has made Haven House a beacon of hope for those in need for nearly three decades.

“I thought I had to stay and take the abuse for twenty-one years as no one would accept me with my 9 children, but Haven House did and treated us like family, gave us food and a safe place to sleep, they teach us how to love our self and one another.”
